COMMUNITY

Our Community programme works with innovative organisations to provide clean water, reforestation, and community education in countries affected by mining.

REPAIR

The environment itself needs to be repaired from the damage inflicted by large scale industrial activity. We do this by supporting reforestation and land usage change in communities affected by mining and associated industrial activity.

CLEAN WATER

Mining can be a hugely destructive process, tons of earth moved just for a few carats of stones or grams of gold . Opencast mines can be seen from space. Mining also uses unpleasant chemicals to separate gold metal and diamonds from the remaining soil, risking water and soil damage.

EDUCATION

Education is a well known route to economic and personal improvement. Those at the beginning of their lives and those mid career, can benefit from education. We support education initiatives where learning and self suffciency are key aspects helping to create sustainable quality of life improvements.

SUPPORTING BY SHARING

Our Community programme works with innovative organisations to provide clean water, reforestation, and community education in countries affected by mining. By diverting some of our sales proceeds directly to groups operating on the ground in mining countries, we hope to make an immediate and effective contribution to the environment and peoples lives. This contribution is contained in every item we sell and is not optional. We do this, because we are all connnected, physically and economically in dependent circles.

THE MALAWI PROJECT

For our first community project, De Vindt have partnered with Basic Water Needs based in the The Netherlands, to deliver clean water technology to Malawi. Mining is a significant part of Malawi GDP, with all the accompanying environmental issues such large scale mining brings. The country is still a developing nation and obtaining clean water is a challenge for many communities in rural and off grid areas.

Our joint working will provide residential water filters to communities in locations using the
Basic Water Needs designed Tulip water filter.

This is a focussed initiative delivering help and support to just where it is needed. By doing this we contribute to local health improvements and support our stated clean water objective. This approach meets our principle of sustainable improvement by encouraging Malawi entrepreneurial business initiatives and future self sufficiency.
